Jason Velligan was born and raised in Northwest Indiana, where he developed a strong connection to working men and women. Before becoming a licensed attorney, Jason spent over 15 years as a paralegal and legal assistant, assisting individuals who suffered injuries due to defective products or negligent professionals. His hands-on background has shaped his commitment to advocating for injured workers and holding wrongdoers accountable.
Jason joined the Coplan + Crane team in 2023 as a Senior Legal Assistant and quickly became an integral member of the firm, with Jason being promoted as an Associate Attorney at Coplan + Crane just after his graduation at Loyola University Chicago School of Law in 2024. During his time at Loyola, Jason served as an editor of the Journal of Regulatory Compliance, where he focused on medical devices and product deviations that lead to product failure.
Jason’s passion for justice is deeply personal. Growing up near the Eastside, he took pride in helping friends and neighbors repair their vehicles and maintain their homes—he even installed the transmission in his first car. Now, instead of a wrench, he uses a pen and keyboard, bringing the same dedication and work ethic to his legal practice. With four generations of his family having worked in the steel mills of Northwest Indiana, Jason understands firsthand the challenges faced by railroad workers, ironworkers, and others in the steel and oil refinery industries. He has made it his mission to be a voice for the people who power America.
