Caitlin Doermer

Associate Attorney You Can Trust
Caitlin Doermer

Caitlin Doermer joined Coplan + Crane as an Associate Attorney in 2026, focusing her practice on birth injury and medical malpractice cases. She is passionate about advocating for mothers and children, especially addressing the often-overlooked issue of black maternal mortality. As a mother herself, this issue has now become all the more personal for her, believing that every mother deserves a safe birthing experience.

Prior to joining the firm, Caitlin worked as an Associate Attorney at Grant & Eisenhofer, where she represented plaintiffs in traumatic birth injuries in civil lawsuits across the United States. She also gained valuable experience at Schwartz Jambois, handling personal injury and medical malpractice cases on behalf of plaintiffs.

One of Caitlin’s most notable achievements was working on a landmark case, Oyedapo v. University of Chicago Medical Center, where she helped secure a $14 million verdict for a family in Cook County, marking her first trial and providing invaluable experience.

After starting her professional career in marketing and advertising, she transitioned to law, driven by her passion for helping others and her family’s legal background. Caitlin holds a Juris Doctor from Notre Dame Law School and is licensed to practice in Illinois. During law school, she was a Law Clerk at Taxman, Pollock, Murray & Bekkerman, LLC. She is also an active member of the Women’s Bar Association in Illinois, having served on the Judicial Reception Committee from 2021 to 2022.

In addition to her legal work, Caitlin is a proud mother to a young son and enjoys spending time with her dog, Carmela. Her personal journey and professional dedication make her a passionate advocate for clients and a rising star at Coplan + Crane.
