Ervin Nevitt is a dedicated and accomplished attorney who started his legal career at Coplan + Crane in 2012 as a paralegal before swiftly ascending to the role of associate and quickly rising to the esteemed position of partner at Coplan + Crane by 2020.
Erv credits his love for being a lawyer to a passion for helping others. Working at Coplan + Crane from paralegal to partner allowed Erv to learn the ropes from industry leaders who have shaped his results-focused yet compassionate approach to law.
Erv prides himself on taking on even the most complex cases with enthusiasm. Driven by a desire to go after bad actors, Erv likes cases others may see as “too challenging” and uses that label as a steering force in his work. Most commonly, Erv works on personal injury cases, including mass tort litigation, product liability litigation, wrongful death claims, medical malpractice, and trucking accidents. An esteemed sexual harassment and assault lawyer, he specializes in a variety of cases, including daycare abuse, child sexual abuse, doctor assault, abuse in religious and sports institutions, and abuse at boarding schools. In addition to this work, Erv is also representing clients in litigation against hair relaxer manufacturers and marketers on behalf of individuals who used hair relaxers and have been diagnosed with uterine cancer, uterine tumors and fibroids, breast cancer, and endometriosis.
Over his career, Erv has secured tens of millions of dollars in verdicts and settlements for his clients. Although he invests his effort into every case, there are a few he takes the most pride in.
He is admitted to practice in Illinois and is an active member of the American Association for Justice, Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, Cook County Bar Association, and Abuse Guardian’s attorney for Illinois. In 2024, Erv was selected for the Public Justice Foundation’s BDN Committee.
In 2024, Erv was named a Rising Star of the Plaintiff Bar by the National Law Journal. He was one of just 31 lawyers nationally recognized with this honor. Erv was recognized as an Emerging Lawyer in Illinois in 2021. Erv was also selected as one of the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin’s 40 Illinois Attorneys Under Forty to Watch in the 25th annual edition. After nearly 1,100 nominations, Erv was chosen among 39 other promising attorneys. This prestigious honor is a testament to Ervin’s dedication, talent, and commitment to the legal profession.
