Coplan + Crane is excited to announce that Caitlin Doermer has joined the firm as an Associate Attorney. Caitlin brings experience in birth injury litigation and medical malpractice, having previously worked at Grant & Eisenhofer, where she represented plaintiffs in traumatic birth injury cases across the United States. She also honed her skills at Schwartz Jambois, handling personal injury and medical malpractice cases on behalf of plaintiffs.
A Notre Dame Law School graduate, Caitlin’s passion for helping others led her to pursue a legal career, with a particular focus on birth injury cases after a clerkship that exposed her to the complexities of maternal mortality and birth injuries. At Coplan + Crane, Caitlin will continue to advocate for mothers and children, a cause that has become even more personal for her as a mother herself.
One of Caitlin’s notable achievements includes working on the landmark case, Oyedapo v. University of Chicago Medical Center, where she helped secure a $14 million verdict for a family in Cook County, marking her first trial and providing invaluable experience.
Caitlin is licensed to practice in Illinois and is an active member of the Women’s Bar Association in Illinois, having served on the Judicial Reception Committee from 2021 to 2022.
“We are thrilled to welcome Caitlin to our team,” said Ben Crane, founding partner at Coplan + Crane. “Her experience in birth injury and medical malpractice cases will make her an invaluable addition to our firm as we continue to fight for justice on behalf of families victim to negligent medical practices.”
